One of D.C.'s most beloved bookstores, Politics and Prose has been serving the District and engaging customers since 1984. They carry fiction and non-fiction (the friendly staff will go the extra mile to help you find anything in between). Politics also holds author talks every night and sometimes twice on the weekend, as well as 75 different book groups that meet for discussion and classes on literature and psychology that meet at the store.
Politics and Prose is also home to Modern Times Coffeehouse, a locally owned space that features a diverse clientele of neighbors, writers, book lovers and families. They serve up Northern-Italian style espresso blends, many craft-roasted locally by Caffé Pronto in Annapolis, as well as food and pastries from local bakeries. Open Mic nights and free wireless internet are added bonuses.
