Even though the Netherlands Carillon is technically a giant musical intstrument (the tower is comprised of over 50 giant bells), it's massive height and prime location on the Virginia side of the Potomac, bordering both the Arlington Cemetary and The Marine Corps Memorial, makes it a unique gathering spot for group events and local festivals.
- Worth Noting
- Free carillon concerts are held on Saturdays and national holidays from May through September. They typically run 2 p.m.-4 p.m. in May and September and 6 p.m.-8 p.m. in June, July and August. During concerts, visitors are welcome to climb the tower to watch the carillonneur perform, as well as get a spectacular view of D.C.
