DC NACE Presents The Capital Style Gala at The Hotel Monaco
The National Association of Catering Executives annual fundraiser showcased the creative talents of the local event industry for a wonderful cause. This year's theme was "NACE Saltutes the 1940's: Heroes to Hollywood" and filled the halls of the luxurious Hotel Monaco with personalities from that era including an 8-foot-tall Uncle Sam, a Miss America look-a-like, and a DJ Jamie Mizell Easson from E2 Events wearing a GI uniform from that era. Throughout the evening, guests were treated to a patriotic celebration of U.S. military heroes and were dazzled by the culinary delights and designs presented by local event specialists. Serving as emcee for the evening was TV's Charm City Cakes' Mary Alice Yeskey. In addition to the cocktail reception and dinner, the event included an extensive silent auction, and an industry awards presentation showcasing the talents of local NACE professionals and the exceptional work they do.
Proceeds from the event and silent auction will benefit Operation USO Care Package, the Foundation of NACE and the Greater Washington D.C. Chapter of NACE Education Fund. Operation USO Care Package lifts the spirits of America’s troops and their families by sending thousands of care packages each month to service members around the world and to their families at home.
The winners of the awards presentation included—Cherry Blossom Events’ Alexandra Pare for best guest table presentation; Capital Party Rentals’ Aisha Malik for best team event and best event production; Gaylord National Resort & Convention Center ‘s Rachel Chadderdon for best catered event; Carte Blanche Events’ Kelly Freeman for best event production on premise; and Select Event Rentals’ Kelly Downes receiving the NACE Spirit Award.
