Smithsonian Associates' Mingle at the Museum
Smithsonian Associates (formerly Smithsonian Young Benefactors) and museum enthusiast met up at the Natural History Museum for another Mingle at the Museum cocktail event.
This event, held on the eve of the Chinese New Year, had a special Asian touch to it. The event centered on the new museum exhibit Orchids—A View from the East, which is filled with the lovely plants long appreciated in China as symbols of nobility, friendship, and refinement.
Attendees mixed and mingled with exhibit curators, voted in the Taiwanese-style juried show, sampled Chinese-style hors d’oeuvres, and created traditional Chinese New Year red paper cut-outs. After delighting their sense of sight and smell, they indulged their taste buds in savory Chinese hors d'oeuvres and desserts.
