Black Jack is Pearl Dive Oyster Palace’s cooler-than-thou, theatrically dark-lit, hipster-pleasing upstairs bar. It’s a dazzling circus-like, Moulin Rouge-esque space with dark red curtains, neon golf signs, and red lighting—so much red it could double as a darkroom! Adding even more character to an already colorful bar is a side lounge that contains a silent film projector, a spectator gallery with old stadium-style seating, two regulation bocce ball courts, and concert posters and fliers from classic shows from the nearby 9:30 Club. The bar has the same menu as Pearl Dive Oyster Palace downstairs, and has excellent bar food options such as the zesty duck nachos and the amazing Earl BLT sandwich.
The bar specializes in European-inspired drinks with their take on the French 25, Moscow Mule, Pimm’s Cup and Bellini cocktail. They also offer 35 bottles of wine to choose from along with nine beers on tap and nearly 40 beers by the can ranging from $3 for a Natty Boh to $14 for a Bellhaven Scottish Ale.
