Kitchen...Remarkably it's kind of a bar
So making it out to Glover Park on Saturday ended up being a disaster for two reasons. First off it was rainy and nasty and second off I had forgotten it was the Kentucky Derby and the popped collar/big ugly hat ratio was absolutely too high for my own tastes. But none the less I ended up avoiding my usual spots (because they were at capacity), but luckily a few doors down was Kitchen and they did just fine.
The spot has a very southern feel (or maybe that was because I was there during the Kentucky Derby) and the bartenders heavy hands left me feeling quite sociable after a few beverages. The bartenders were well versed in everything from Mint Juleps to martinis to shots (I had all 3!!!) and the coziness of the bar made it easy to meet the people next to you (whether you wanted to or not).
Now I will admit that I didn't eat there but the menu was filled with your stereotypical "southern fare." Nothing that jumped out at me like the chilli mac at Bourbon, but I could easily see myself ordering off the appetizer menu the next time I randomly end up with a mint julep in Glover Park.
