Church and State, located above D.C. hotspot Fruit Bat, is the newest addition to the eclectic collection of watering holes on the H St. corridor. Church and State is a cool bar/lounge whose ambiance and décor is inspired by a classic church. There are stained glass windows, long benches, and even a mock confessional room to give the space a unique and very gothic feel.
Now the space may remind people of a church, but real church never served drinks as tasty as Church and State. Their list of specialty cocktails, or their “Bill of Rights,” is extensive and as delicious of a list of cocktails you’ll find in D.C. They do tend to run a little on the pricier side, but you’re paying for more than a drink at Church and State; you’re paying for a unique “religious” experience!
