The HR-57 Center for the Preservation of Jazz and Blues is about as authentic as it gets, taking an act of Congress to create this important jazz and blues lounge. Located in Logan Circle, and named after House Resolution 57 which recognizes the importance of jazz in America, the place takes its music very seriously. Open jazz jam sessions make up Wednesday and Thursday nights while professional ensembles round out Friday and Saturday evenings. Saturday afternoons, the only time there isn't a cover charge, is when blues takes over this unique club. Its BYOB (with a small one-time corkage fee per person), because music's the focus here, but they do have some limited drink options available.
