The "Hair Today, Gone Tomorrow" benefit for children’s cancer research was held at Hudson Restaurant on April 7, and featured appearances by Miss Virginia Tara Wheeler and her beauty queen colleagues from the Commonwealth of Virginia. Wheeler first got involved with cancer research after hearing about the story of 9 year old cancer patient-and-now-cancer-survivor Breanna Rowell, who attended last night's benefit along with her family. If Wheeler raises $500,000 by Saturday, she will shave her head in the St. Baldrick’s Foundation charity event that afternoon. If she falls short of the goal, she plans on continuing her fund-raising efforts and may shave her head before the end of her reign as Miss Virginia. later this year.
