Who said scavenger hunts are just for kids? Definitely not the staff at Watson Adventures, the company that’s bringing the Haunted Washington Scavenger Hunt to the nation’s capital. Sound fun? It is. But be prepared: This hunt that takes you to some of DC’s spookiest spots rumored to host the spirits of Andrew Jackson, Abraham Lincoln and Dolley Madison, just to name a few. Basically, it’s not for the faint of heart and we put together some pictures from the hunt to give you an idea of what to expect. Here’s how it works:

Armed with only a flashlight (you’re responsible for bringing your own), you’ll start at the Treasury Building where you’ll meet you’re competition (teams are 2 to 6 players), grab a map of the area and get a list of clues. Unlike a traditional scavenger hunt, you’re not collecting things in this game; instead, hunters race to collect the answers to witty and tricky questions about the ghost-plagued places you’re led to along the way. The game starts around 8 p.m. and lasts about two hours. At the finish line, the team with the most correct answers wins. That’s right; as long as you finish on time, speed is not a factor, giving you all the more time to scare yourselves silly at each and every stop along the way.

The hunt will be offered one more time on Saturday, August 15th before running for two nights in a row over Halloween weekend (October 30th and 31st). Cost is $22.50 per person. Visit www.watsonadventures.com to buy your tickets.
