Cassie and Dean of Arlington, and Meg of South East

Art, dancing, and cocktails, oh my! The Smithsonian Freer & Sackler Galleries’ Asia After Dark event was the place to be Thursday evening! Who knew that an art museum knew how to throw a good party? Tickets sold out quickly for the event with about 500 people in attendance. Lines were out the door and twisting around the first floor to grab a taste of Asia. The D.C. social scene was mixing and mingling throughout the exhibits.
Guests enjoyed scrumptious catering from Mie N Yu of Georgetown and Johnny’s Kabob Catering of Germantown. A variety of drinks were on tap at the numerous bars placed on the multiple museum floors. The Silk Road Dance Company of Maryland enchanted attendees with Turkic, Russian, and Persian dances. In addition to the dance performances, guests enjoyed electronic drum-and-bass beats from DJ Delbar of RadioJavan.com, and the museum’s permanent collection and visiting exhibits: Tsars and the East: Gifts from Turkey and Iran in The Moscow Kremlin and Perspectives: Anish Kapoor. The second Asia After Dark event will be held September 3. Tickets go on sale August 3.
