Safeway Barbecue Battle XVII –“A Smokin’ Good Time for a Great Cause”
Slight showers and a cloudy day did not keep barbecue enthusiasts from attending Safeway’s 17th Annual National Capital Barbecue Battle this Sunday. Visitors enjoyed tasty treats from several venders and endured long lines to be part of the Safeway Sampling Pavilion, where there was an endless amount of food to try. Once you had your food fill, there was plenty of sample drinks to go around. After a hearty meal, visitors could test their skills and compete for prizes at the NBA VanJam courts, learn how to cook from the pros, groove to the beats of local and legendary musicians, and participate in multiple family activities. Proceeds from the entrance tickets partially benefit the Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Washington.
