Pooches parade at 'Strut your Mutt' in Bethesda

It was a dog day afternoon – literally – in Bethesda on Saturday May 16, during the area’s fourth annual Strutt Your Mutt dog festival. Hundreds of pet owners flocked to Woodmont Avenue for a day of dog-themed activities, including a dog parade, training shows and treat giveaways. Owners perused the “cavalcade of exhibitors” offering up the newest toys and doggie daycare services, while rescue groups brought dogs to the stage with hopes of finding them good homes. Professional dog trainer Melissa Heeter showed onlookers how to train dogs to salute and freestyle dance, among other tricks, all to the tune of “True Oldies” provided by 105.9.
