Asia After Dark 2011: A Tribute to Japanese Art and Fashion at the Smithsonian Freer and Sackler Galleries
The Freer and Sackler Galleries hosted the first Asia After Dark of 2011 with a deep awareness of the tragic events that have unfolded in Japan and offered fervent wishes for the safety, recovery, and well being of their Japanese friends. The event featured a tribute to the magnificent art and fashion of the country. Guests got a chance to view Japanese art in the galleries, then create and send messages of hope to friends and family in Japan. Attendees enjoyed dance beats by legendary DJ Steve Aoki and DJ Cassidy Karakorn, as well as sake cocktails and sushi bites, and interacted with models wearing Harajuku fashions.
