Open Mic Fundraiser for Haiti
To raise money for the devastation in Haiti, local artists came together for a phenomenal and emotional open mic night at Busboys & Poets on 14th street. Among the performances, community members presented statistics and moving stories of despair, hope and the will to survive. Hosted by 93.9 WKYS's DJ QuickSilva, the event included performances by Making The Band's D'Angela Redman and poet Benny Blaq. Co-sponsored by the TransAfrica Forum and with a suggested donation of at least $10, the benefit raised over $2000 for Haiti.
