3rd Annual Newsbabes Bash for Breast Cancer
Hope, courage, and pink power filled the Fairmont Hotel as the DC region’s top newswomen hosted the sold-out 3rd Annual Newsbabes Bash for Breast Cancer. Beloved survivors, supportive politicos, and friends from the media world came together onTuesday May 17 to attend this signature kick-off event to Washington, D.C.’s Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure. Newsbabes began in 2009 when a group of good friends in the TV news industry decided to get together for one cause.
The pink cocktail affair held every spring drew an amazing crowd of breast cancer survivors, advocates and political and media power play. The Newsbabes host team consists of well-known newswomen from across the region from media affiliates such as WUSA9, WJLA7, NBC4, News Channel 8, WTOP News, FOX5 and CNN. Approximately 75 percent of the proceeds from the race benefit community outreach and education programs, and the remaining funds go to research.
