Santarchy D.C. 2011
Ho-Ho-Holy Moly, that's a lot of Santas! Hundreds of D.C.'s jolliest put on their best holiday costumes, with inspiration coming from superheroes, Star Wars, and Saint Nick himself, to march through the streets of D.C. before ingesting some liquid holiday cheer.
All of the Santas first met up at the carousel on the National Mall before heading to the Smithsonian Sculpture Garden's skating rink to pick up some skating Santas. Next, the crowd moved to the U.S. Navy Memorial to sing some altered Christmas carols about the real "spirit" of Christmas. Then it was on to the National Portrait Gallery, currently home to the Downtown Holiday Market, for some more caroling. Then, the real fun began as the Santas moved indoors to Chinatown's Rocket Bar, RFD, Fadó and Hooters for holiday spirits. Some Santas then descended to the National Zoo before finally reaching Chief Ike's Mambo Room. It's safe to say that holiday cheer was certainly spread throughout D.C.!
