Trying to cure the zombie apocalypse can be dangerous
Moans, screams and calls for “brains” echoed throughout the streets of downtown Silver Spring from the 2009 zombie walk. The living dead congregated at the Quarry House Tavern and Piratz Tavern before taking to the streets. Zombies of all ages walked, limped and scuffled their way towards the AFI Silver Theatre to watch Edgar Wright’s 2004 zombie comedy, “Shaun of the Dead.” The event was so popular that AFI opened additional theaters to screen the film and even added a midnight showing. The zombies, meanwhile, banged on store windows, swarmed cars stopped at traffic lights and generally entertained the innocent human bystanders.
