These wannabe rock stars practiced in their bedrooms and cars for a chance to win the DC Regional Air Guitar Champion title. Contestants had 60 seconds to rock out to a song of their choosing (no equipment allowed). Technical showmanship was key, but putting on a good show and getting the crowd going was more important than hitting every note.
The night culminated in an “air off” between Lance “The Shred” Kasten and Chris “Sanjar The Destroyer (STD)” Paxton, whose large number of fans started chanting “STD! STD! STD!” as soon as he got on stage. The two clashed so hard that the judges had no other choice but to sanction it a tie.
For the first time ever, the finals will be held at 9:30 Club on August 7.
