The W&OD Trail
Need to get out of the city? This 90-mile roundtrip trail is more than just a lazy Sunday bike ride. Head west out of DC and pass through quaint towns like Falls Church and Leesburg, VA, finally ending in Purcellville, VA. Make it a two-day tour and stop over at one of the many bed and breakfasts along the way. The trail is paved and might not be too satisfying for devout nature lovers (most of it follows power lines). For those on horeseback, sections of the path also have a parallel riding trail.
