Worst: “Alfie”

Here's a Michael Caine remake that didn't work quite as well. Jude Law may boast metrosexual good looks that Caine's original Alfie didn't exactly possess, but Caine brought much more nuance and charisma to the role of a self-centered womanizer with a habit of bragging about his sexual exploits directly to the camera. Still, while the box-office failure of Law's remake of the swinging-‘60s character study was attributed to its leading man's lack of star power, one can’t blame Law for delivering a superficial performance under the superficial direction of Charles Shyer, who sacrificed depth for generic studio-romcom gloss.
