Daughtry will release a new, acoustic version of the song Rescue Me to benefit a campaign that fights hunger. Proceeds from the new version of the song, which will go on sale at iTunes this summer, will benefit DC Entertainment's We Can Be Heroes giving campaign, which uses Justice League characters to raise awareness and funds for humanitarian aid organizations working in Africa. Daughtry announced his involvement with the campaign at Wednesday's concert at Los Angeles' Nokia Theatre.

"We had this song that says it all," Daughtry frontman Chris Daughtry told The Hollywood Reporter. "It was written about feeling like you needed to be rescued from something. ... We just thought it would be a good idea to do a more stripped down, less bombastic version of it."
