In a musical time long ago – back when Taylor Swift was 5 and the Web wasn't yet capable of launching a South Korean rapper to global stardom – Shania Twain caused a sonic sensation with her second album, 1995's The Woman In Me.

The multimillion-selling disc helped the Canadian singer snag best country album honors at the Grammy Awards and Billboard Music Awards in 1996. That was a warm-up for her record-setting third album, 1997's Come On Over, which with catchy single That Don't Impress Me Much only solidified her golden status.

Among Twain's other career high points:

• Featured on the heavily rotated 1998 special VH1 Divas alongside Mariah Carey, Aretha Franklin, Celine Dion and Gloria Estefan.

• 1999's entertainer of the year for both the Country Music Association and Academy of Country Music.

• Ranked No. 7 in CMT's 2002 40 Greatest Women of Country Music countdown.

• Performed at Super Bowl XXXVII's halftime show in 2003.

• Guest judge on American Idol in 2009.

• Received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in 2011.
