Laura Branigan vs. The Bloodsugars: 'Self-Control'

Laura Branigan: Eighties songstress struck gold with Jazzercized hits "Gloria" and "Solitaire," but went platinum with this powerful, extended jungle metaphor. Sadly, Branigan died in 2004 of a brain aneurysm at the age of 47.
The Bloodsugars: These New Yorkers are not a Red Hot Chili Peppers cover band, but dance-rockers fronted by a real-life diabetic. Sweet! He's Jason Rabinowitz and sorta sings like a pre-pubescent Elvis Costello.
Who sings it better?
The Bloodsugars use a haunting organ and dramatic "Love Lockdown" drumming for a fresh take on a pretty dated track. Advantage, the Bloodsugars.
