Clay is gay? You don't say!
It’s official: to the surprise of—anyone really not know? anyone?—OK, to the surprise of pretty much no one, Clay Aiken has come out of the closet. “Yes, I’m gay,” the “American Idol” runner-up proclaims on the cover of the latest People magazine, posing with his infant son (who was conceived via in-vitro fertilization with his producer, Jaymes Foster).
By coming out, the “Gaiken” (as comedian Kathy Griffin has long called him) joins a long and hallowed tradition of gay entertainers announcing their gayness long after we’d all figured it out already. So congratulations, Clay—you’re in good company! — Andy Hermann, Metromix
