2010 Earth Day Climate Rally and Concert
Thousands of people came out to the National Mall for The 2010 Earth Day Climate Rally and Concert. In honor of the 40th Anniversary of Earth Day, influential musicians along with political, environmental, religious and civil-rights leaders met up on the mall to call on Congress to take action to address climate change in 2010. Appearances by televison personality Maria Menounos, Reverend Jesse Jackson, and "Titanic" and "Avatar" director James Cameron were some of the highlight speakers at the event.
But of course, the majority of the people who came down to the Mall were there for the star studded musical lineup that did not disappoint. Musical acts Honor Society, Jimmy Cliff, Passion Pit, Bob Weir, the Roots and John Legend among many others hit the stage and performed sets that kept the crowd pumped all day. To cap off the night, legendary rocker Sting hit the stage to sing the message home that the earth needs our help now!
