Michael Buble, 'Christmas'
Bublé says he didn't set out to make a good Christmas album; he set out to make "the best one." It's certainly the closest to classic Andy Williams or Perry Como we've seen from Gen-X in a while—Bublé even includes grandfatherly patter with guest artists, a la Bing Crosby. And oh, the guest artists! The Puppini Sisters do a spot-on Andrews sisters on "Jingle Bells," Shania Twain matches Bublé warble for warble on "White Christmas" and Thalia accompanies Bublé as the poor Canadian tries to do a Spanish accent (he could do worse). It's a pretty triumphant album that pays homage to the best of '40s and '50s holiday music, as only Bublé could do. One of only a few misfires is the crooner trying to make masculine adjustments to "Santa Baby"—best sung by Eartha Kitt, usually sung by a woman. The Target-exclusive deluxe version squeezes in a few extra guest stars, including another track with the Puppini Sisters ("Frosty the Snowman") and "Silver Bells," with a capella group Naturally 7. –LM
