Various Artists, 'The Sing-Off: Songs of the Season'
If you’re sick of “Glee” but still love a cappella music, NBC’s competitive reality show “The Sing-Off” has provided a nice alternative. This wide-ranging compilation features holiday tracks from all of the current season’s finalists, plus last year’s winners Committed, slathering their cooleyhighharmonies all over “Jingle Bells.” Highlights include a surprisingly non-schlocky version of “Santa Baby” from Nashville’s the Collective, a stylishly jazzy spin on “Christmas Time Is Here” from Howard University’s Afro Blue and a lovely, underplayed hymn, “Infant Holy, Infant Lowly,” gorgeously rendered by BYU’s Vocal Point. –AH
