Elvis Costello and The Imposters
The best known rocker in glasses since Buddy Holly, Elvis Costello brought his "A" game to Virginia's Wolf Trap on Wednesday June 15th, with an energetic show and a few fun surprises. Aside from cage dancers (always a good time!), fans were invited on stage to spin The Wheel and select a random song from the lyrical wordsmith's 35 year career. After The Wheel was spun, they then had a choice of entering the “Hostage to Fortune Go-Go Cage” or having a seat in the “Society Lounge,” where they could sip cocktails and listen to their selection up close and personal. Everyone from brave children to slightly inebriated baby boomers tested their luck at The Wheel, which also contained some fun wild card surprises and generic titles like "Girl," that prompted a series of Costello's greatest hits that had the word "girl" in the title.
Costello played for over two hours and gave the crowd a great show, especially one young girl named Roxanne who was treated to an impromptu cover of her namesake song by The Police.
