SEE-I at the Black Cat
MN8 presented the "Album Release Spectacular" with local bands See-I and Thunderball Soundsystem both celebrating their recent new releases with two thunderous performances at the Black Cat. It was apropos that the show was held on the birthday of His Imperial Majesty Haile Selassie I, former Emperor of Ethiopia, whose given name of Ras Tafari is the namesake of The Rastafari movement. See-I—who recently released their self-titled debut album--showed why they’re regarded as one of the top local reggae acts as they blended their homegrown beats with funk, soul and rock. Thunderball brought in their own reggae funk with the help of rastars Nappy Riddem for their set featuring tracks from their new “12 Mile High Remixed."
