The unassuming Playbill has played host to hundreds of actors, directors and playwrights looking to slake their thirst after entertaining the masses. Some even emerge from the back room that doubles as a theatre and cabaret space. The dining room of this gay-friendly bar is brick and adorned with the work of local artists and the large wrap-around bar is decorated with signed programs, wall tiles and reviews of the District’s finest shows. The menu tends toward American and Middle Eastern favorites like hummus and turkey burgers. Thursday night karaoke brings in the crowds and there’s a monthly international wine and cuisine dinner.
