Just shouting distance from the hubbub of North Capitol Street, this coffeehouse/bistro is a kitschy oasis for the MacBook/Sonic Youth set. The menu is decidedly sandwich based with a quirky selection (hummus and cucumber anyone?). Boasting free W-F, a dog friendly outdoor garden and modestly priced coffee, the Big Bear is welcomeaddition to a growing neighborhood. Enquiring minds take note: there is also an in-house monthly book club for the radical economists out there.
