Corduroy is Chef Tom Power’s upscale enterprise in the Mt. Vernon Square/Convention Center area where restaurants, specialty shops and new arts venues are beginning to pop up like mushrooms after a spring storm. In a block filled with vacant row homes, Corduroy is a sterling addition in an historic building.
Foods here are prepared with fresh ingredients, and the menu changes often. The chef/owner, Tom Power, has worked with legendary D.C. chef, Michel Richard, and it is evident that he has learned well.
The restaurant is located in the Sheraton Four Points Hotel. It does not have the flash factor that other heralded restaurants have but it is up there with some of D.C.'s finest restaurants. Due to the historic designation of the building, Corduroy is not handicapped accessible. Reservations are recommended and can be made online by visiting the website. The dining room seats 56 and the upstairs bar seats 11.
Parties of nine or larger are recommended to place arrangements in advance. Being that Corduroy is located near the convention center and some of the area’s upscale hotels, the location appears to cater to business visitors. Plans are in the works to open Corduroy for lunch.

Romancing Valentine's Day
Here are some my sweet spots in the District for romantic dining on Valentine's Day. Some are ooh la la pricey and others are more gentle on the wallet. And these aren't just for Feb. 14th..but cozy for any night of the week.
