Duke's Market Cafe is a nice, somewhat quiet restaurant with American colonial decor and a somewhat upscale tavern like feel. Although they're known for making a great prime rib and have a nice menu of steak, seafood and hearty salad offerings, the chances that you'd actually think to go to this restaurant are slim to none seeing that it's located in the Washington Suites hotel a bit up from Duke Street. Most times in the small but quaint restaurant you'll see a handful of hotel patrons dining quietly and a few older gentleman at the bar sipping a beer or cordial. Staff are friendly and the menu is pretty expansive, but if you're in Alexandria and looking for a typical steak and seafood heavy American restaurant with a bit more liveliness and atmosphere you're better off heading to Old Town.
