Aside from George Washington himself, nothing says D.C. like our 16th President and the makers of popular nightspot Hudson are capitalizing on Honest Abe with their new restaurant-lounge Lincoln. Located in the former Il Mulino space, Lincoln offers a seasonal American small-plate menu that showcases simplistic market fresh dishes by Chefs Demetrio Zavala and Karen Nicolas. Crafted from fresh ingredients supplied by local farmers, daily seafood catches by local fishermen, and artisanal meat from ranchers around the region, the menu features many nods to Abraham Lincoln’s favorite foods including oysters, gingerbread and chicken fricassee.
Mixologist John Hogan has also created a specialty cocktail menu based around the restaurant’s artistic concept. From the unique Mason jars featuring infused bourbons to the city’s first moonshine lit served in antique style copper cups, each drink is a homage to the 16th President or the era he lived in.
The interior design is also unique and was carefully designed by local artists Maggie O’Neil. The restaurant design’s centerpiece is the penny tiled floor which required over a million pennies to complete.
