Do you live and breathe by the word of the Oprah? Well now you can eat like the Queen of the Universe herself at the new Art and Soul restaurant in The Liason Capitol Hill hotel. Owned and operated by the Oprah’s longtime personal chef Art Smith, the new upscale eatery promises familiar but eclectic soul food with a modern twist.
With Smith’s culinary background and the restaurant’s location, Art and Soul’s menu reflects both the southern comfort style and the Chesapeake Bay ingredients of the area. Diners can enjoy such unique creations as the Landand Sea Hoe Cake, a cornmeal pizza blue crab, beef and brie, or fun spins on classics like lamb chops with charred pears and a mint julep sauce. All ingredients used at the restaurant are delivered daily from local purveyors to ensure the freshest ingredients possible.
The restaurant also sports a chic lounge, aptly dubbed ArtBar, where hotel guests and patrons can come to relax, socialize and enjoy one of over a hundred organic wines, artisan crafted beers, and handmade cocktails (like a martini which features such unique accompaniments as okra and quail eggs).
Aside from cooking for the esteemed Oprah, Art Smith is a James Beard Award winning chef, author of numerous cookbooks and owner of other popular restaurants across the country. He has also prepared food for other prominent celebrities, including Governor Jeb Bush and Doritos girl Ali Landry.
