At first sight, Great Wall Szechuan house is your basic neighborhood hole-in-the-wall Chinese restaurant. Over the past six years, however, this Logan Circle dive has made a name for itself for serving up some of the spiciest Chinese food in the District. In addition to its run-of-the-mill take-out menu, Great Wall offers a separate “ma la” menu of tongue-numbing specialties from China’s Sichuan Province. If you’re feeling daring, try the powerful ma po tofu – just make sure to order it with an extra drink. With most menu items under $9, Great Wall is quickly turning into a citywide destination instead of just a local carry-out.
