The only problem with Jolt 'N Bolt is its name, which doesn't do this peaceful, offbeat spot justice. Take a few steps off of 18th St. N.W. into the shaded alley café and the city melts away. Traffic noise is replaced by wind chimes and the trickling of a small wall fountain. Soft jazz floats from inside, where there is also plenty of seating in quirky plastic diner chairs. Plants are abundant inside and out, altogether delivering your typical coffeehouse offerings in a much more zen atmosphere. Smoothies, fresh sandwiches and pastries are also available.
