Piratz Tavern is a great idea that is very poorly executed. The food is terrible and the service is worse. My 6 year old son so wanted his birthday party here. Despite making arrangements with directly owner Tracy Koudry months in advance, a well intentioned lunch for a group of boys turned into a bad nightmare. No pirates, no table decor as promised, only one server and a very rude owner who acted put upon for having to serve a large group on an otherwise slow day in a bad economy. My husband and Iiterally had to bus the table ourselves. Perhaps Ms. Koudry is personally wealthy because she surely does not seem to want business at her restaurant.

This place rocks! Who would imagine a pirate bar in downtown Silver Spring. We went for happy hour and got GIANT mugs of grog (potent rum stuff) for $10, and ended up staying for dinner. Sandwiches were good, fries were great, and we were able to rent a hookah on the outside patio. I would recommend everyone try this place at least once.

The food was average, the sceneary was great, but a little cramp. The AC was broken walking through the resturant felt like an oven. When you go straight to the back of the resturant they provided outside dining. I was sitting near the aisle constantly getting my chair bumped. Oh well.
The service was horrible, no refills on drinks. The waitress mainly spoke to our male friend and ignored me and my other friend (females). I asked for ice and didn't receive it. I had to share ice with my other friend. What can I say, bad service.
