Ambience is lacking in this basement pupuseria; it’s as charming and cozy as a hospital waiting room. The food is okay as well. The pupusas can be overcooked and the staff is strictly Spanish-speaking which would be doable if it weren’t paired with deafening jukebox music, making ordering unnecessarily frustrating. With the unending number of similar places in the Mount Pleasant area (most of which are cheaper to boot), it's hard to single out San Miguel.
