This sleek and modern American restaurant is seamlessly perched on the second-floor mezzanine of downtown’s elegant Westin Washington hotel. Though the dining room’s décor is eerily reminiscent of an Ikea showroom, the dinner menu features a few delectable options on upscale contemporary fare such as cedar plank roasted salmon, steak oscar and pork osso bucco. Although you can probably find a better meal for the price, 1400 North is a fine choice for business travelers on an expense account or classy diners in the mood for a carefully-prepared steak.
