In Dec. 2007, chocolatiers Eric Nelson and Rob Kingsbury joined forces to open their first Artfully Chocolate/Kingsbury Confections (ACKC) in the District. The result: DC's first cocoa bar, complete with a chocolate retail shop. The cocoa bar is a popular and sophisticated concept already in place in cities like Paris and New York. ACKC is open in Del Ray at a new location on Mount Vernon Ave., after Nelson closed his Artfully Chocolate shop on East Del Ray Ave. The old spot will see their third business, The Artful Chef, with a kitchen for chocolate demos and a retail shop.
