Love the decor and concept of Coco Sala!
Hate the snooty hostess who obviously hasn't gotten the fact that she's in the hospitality business.
Unfortunately the decor is ruined by the volume. The music is way,way,way too loud. We had to scream across the table at each other - and forget it if the person you want to talk to is not right next to you.
The menu is fun and creative -but the food is just good. Come on macaroni and cheese with bacon - anyone can make that good! How bout shooting for amazing? Although I did love the chocolate covered bacon on top. The tuna tartar though - worst I have ever had! Completely without flavor - desperately crying out for some salt & acid! Not to mention it looked like day old seviche - gray and dull.
Desserts are solid. Fun, flavorful.....just not amazing...which is what I would expect for a chocolate restaurant. If it weren't for the great plates their served on I wonder....
Last but not least...the service was not fabulous. It took forever just for our first round of drinks to arrive. Then the servers gave the wrong food to the wrong people. This wasn't noticed to we started eating off the wrong plates so they had to prepare new - - which took forever! You'd think they would put a rush on something like that. And then they charged us for the remakes!!
I'd love to see this place succeed but pretty decor alone won't be enough.
