A family business that started in Maryland, Fratelli opened its doors in Alexandria just three years ago. Chef owners Alex and Manuel have been cooking for 19 years. Their recipes hail from Northern Italy and just about every item on the menu is a signature dish, including pollo terra mare -- chicken breast dipped in egg batter, stuffed with ham, cheese and herbs, and topped with shrimp, mushrooms and lemon sauce. Wow. Fratelli has a faithful following and features dinner specials Monday through Wednesday, namely dinner for two with a bottle of red or white wine.
