D.C.'s favorite local chain, Julia's Empanadas is all homemade sweetness, the words "made by hand" and "baked with love" emblazoned on each tiny storefront. You almost forget how much money is probably being made off the simple aesthetic, especially late night Fridays and Saturdays in Adams Morgan, when the bars let out inebriates with the munchies. The empanadas are the perfect size and perfect price: $3.50 each. They also play up D.C.'s multi-cultural community by branching out from South America with Jamaican and Spanish versions. Those of Latin American descent may denigrate the quality, but Julia's still makes a great snack at 3:30 a.m.
