Higher-end, sophisticated tapas make Tabaq Bistro stand out from other similarly themed restaurants on U Street. Nervous staff and cramped tables don’t seem to deter the crowds of people who come to enjoy Mediterranean standouts like the lamb shank and puff shrimp plate. Eating under the retractable glass rooftop has the refreshing feeling of dining on the deck of a ship, minus the sea-sickness. There’s also a spectacular view of the Washington Monument and Capitol building for patrons.
