First opened in 1960 –- and virtually unchanged since -- Vienna Inn is a time capsule of what Virginia was all about before the invasion of the wealthy suburbanites. Dark, dank, smelling of smoke and beer, this spot is a second home to neighborhood regulars complete with walls filled with the trophies of hometown heroes. In other words, real, with no pretentions. Breakfast, lunch and dinner are served, but the house specialty is the chili dog, boiled in beer and laden with homemade chili, freshly chopped onions and a layer of melted cheddar. Prices are remarkably low –- those chili dogs are only $1.50 -– and if you’re looking for a party of your own, you can even buy a keg at this Inn.
