It’s fair to say that Founding Farmers, located in the International Monetary Fund HQ2 building near the Farragut West metro station, is truly the first of its kind in D.C. Owned by a group of American Family Farmers (that’s right, real farmers), the restaurant not only specializes in “made from scratch” meals, with recipes that blend old and new styles and techniques, but it’s also LEED certified, meaning it was built with minimal impact on the environment. And when they say the food is farm fresh, they're not kidding. Produce is delivered daily direct from local family farms to ensure the freshest dining experience possible.
The menu offers a large variety of breakfast, lunch, dinner and dessert options, along with an extensive list of appetizers, salads, cheeses and flatbreads. The food and the pre-prohibition-style bar are based on classic American favorites, plus a few modern adaptations of traditional farm-tested recipes.
