Blink and you'll miss one of the most romantic outdoor areas in the District. The entry way for the Iron Gate Inn, as the name suggests, is an iron gate, which could easily be confused for a drive way for one of the posh rowhouses that surround the restaurant. The breezeway, as the management calls it, actually serves as the bar area, with plenty of seating to enjoy a cocktail. The indoor seating area, which during the 1800s served as a stable for horses, offers a place to eat during the cold months, but the real draw is the unbelievable patio. The 130- year-old wisteria and grape vine-covered trellis that canopies the seating is something out of a movie or old-world Europe.
