I saw my waitress get hit by a customer. Nothing was done, she was hit again and the customer was able to finish his drink. What a great work place.
tt2009 wrote about Kabob Bazaar
Went there to eat authentic persian cuisine, which it isn't at all. You get bread and some greens, which nobody really can eat. The sauce is packed in a little container on the side. The hummus was pretty bad, way to fluid, way to oily, not authentic at all. The lamb kabob was ok though.

Tommy Joe's is great because it has a very relaxed feel. The staff was very friendly and extremely attentive. I was looking for a place where I could watch the game, that also had a fun nightlife, Tommy Joe's was perfect. They have an indoor bar, 2 outdoor bars and a ton of televisions, and for a single guy, there was a ton of good looking girls both working and hanging out. The food was great, and the check was affordable. I highly recommend it!
Jillilein wrote about Pho Kim
I have been looking for a good Vietnamese joint since I came to town a year and a half ago. I particularly like soda chanh and have had a very tough time finding it on a menu. Not only did Pho Kim have it, but it was the best I've ever had! They added lime! I like to order rice vermicelli bowls, and theirs did not disappoint! Wonderfully large portions of oh-so-fresh food! Not super-attentive service, but I don't mind, because that's not why I go for very casual dining. I will definitely be back for more! The more you peruse the menu, the more you'll realize that this is NOT Vietnamese glossed over by American tastes. Bottom line is great food and great prices!

I agree with the other review...Started by being told how great the Giant burger was prior to being seated on a near empty night. Started ordering only to be told they were out of the burgers...2 out of 6 people wanted it. 40 mins later, the 2 children meals came...adults had to wait another 30 minutes...kids were done and starting to get board...Both were still hungry and no bread or other things come unless you order it. Adult chicken/pineapple meal came...ton of over spiced rice and very little chicken. Fish & chips were good, but over cooked and cold...go figure. Steak was over cooked and dry. Only reason to go here would be for the over priced fries ($10) and to try various keptups. Service lacked...even took 4 attemps and 25 mins for salad dressing and more keptup...by this time, the fries were cold. 18% added to the bill with 6 people or more, so I guess they know the service didn't matter! But the people did smile and said have a nice night upon leaving.

MR1 wrote about Sushi Taro
I have never written a review before, nor have I ever joined one of these review sites. However, being a sushi lover, I needed to comment. Sushi Taro was so completely awful, I felt it was warranted. If you are looking for sushi (even bad sushi) this is NOT the place. We decided to leave after having 2 shrimp tempura (yes I mean 2 shrimp) with 4 pieces of tempura vegetables, and 2 beers, which came to $45. The sushi menu is odd, and not in the unique, tempting way, but rather in the "what were they thinking" way. There are so many wonderful places to eat in DC, so you shouldn't have any problem finding someplace else.

this place is absolutely horrible. i have so much to say about it, i'm going to have to continue in a separate post later. all i can say is that previous reviews were 100% right about this place being a scam. they basically have a :"board" where latinos order off of. when a gringo walks in, they sit you down and give you an overpriced printed menu. if you ask about it, they say it's all menu now. it's basically price discrimination. what they don't realize is that people are on to this little trick. hopefully word of mouth will eventually put these guys out of business. i'm doing my part. i work in the neighborhood and have advised all of my coworkers not to go there. it's okay when you're in a foreign country to be gouged for being a gringo (if you're not smart enough to negotiate or to know the value of a product or service), but in one's own country it's unacceptable. being lied to and receiving terrible, rude servicewhen asking about their shady pricing is never fun either. i'll never go back. these are just initial thoughts. i may come back to post more later after i've had the chance to fully digest how terribly horrible the experience was.
billhad wrote about Fairfax Sportsplex
The ONLY thing Fairfax Sportsplex has going for itself is their convenient location. But given their other problems, it's not worth wasting your money for this one advantage. Go play at Dulles Sportsplex, Rockville Sportsplex, or Barcroft. Fairfax Sportsplex has terrible facilities (old fields, walls that are falling apart, absolutely no air conditioning/heat of any kind) and some of the worst referees I've ever encountered. I've been playing soccer for over 20 years, so that should hopefully put my assessment into perspective. But the worst thing about this place is the management. They do not care one bit about their customers. We had problems with refs, with schedules (the scheduling here is a disaster) and we barely received so much as a reply from management. One week they did not even send out game times, so everybody in the league missed their game. Did management care and reschedule the games? Not a chance. The breaking point came when one of our refs verbally assaulted a player on our team. He actually tried to fight our player, but our player avoided confrontation and backed away. We went to complain to the manager but guess what? He WAS the manager. So we called and emailed higher level management. After a week of no response, we received a one line email saying something to the effect of "we don't care - get over it." Our whole team was appalled and we moved to Dulles Sportsplex. The bottom line? Don't even think about wasting your money here for the sake of convenience. You will regret it, like me and my entire team did. Do yourself a favor and play elsewhere

Great service. Friendly people. Priced fairly. Pretty nice dine in restaurant and atmosphere. Food arrives fast and hot. They have a full bar too. And if you don't want to eat there you can order carry out or delivery.
Mumphrey wrote about El Rincon Catracho
I was lucky enough to have had the chance to live for 2 years in Honduras after college. That was 13 years ago, but I still get cravings for horchata and baleadas. I was thrilled to find this place, near enough to walk to from my house. The food is typical Honduran: simple but really tasty. Sure the "ambience" could be better, and I guess the service isn't what most gringos like me would look for (at least gringos who haven't lived in Honduras), but the lack of ambience and so-so service in Honduras (again, by gringo standards) are part of what made the country what it is. Honduras is not the U.S., and I'm glad for that. Rincón Catracho is also not really American either, it's stubbornly Honduran. It's loud, the waiters and waitresses spend a lot of time talking and joking around with the customers, which means they might take a while to get to you, but all those things are part of what make it authentically Honduran. People who want fast, Americanized service and food might not like this place, but they'll be missing out on a chance to spend a little time in Honduras without even having to leave the country, or even the ir own town. The only drawback to this place is that winters are cold in Virginia, so you can't eat out in the open all year the way you would in Tela, Honduras.

Just found this little gem down on 7th and penn NW on my way to a caps game. Tired of "Chinatown" madness before and after every trip to the verizon. Found a seat at the bar no problem (it was a tuesday afterall) had the best burger ive ever tasted and a pitcher of beer for twenty bucks or so. Watched some highlights on one of many 50" tv's (there's more tvs than tables) while offering playoff opinions of my defensively challenged team to the rabid hockey who was my bartender. unfortunately he was a redwings fan. if i could sum up this bar in one word: genuine. You don't have to be trendy when you're the real deal. I only wonder if i can add on a bar stool to my season. tickets

Walked by this little gem just after they opened and have been going back whenever we pass through Front Royal and want something really unique for lunch. The wraps are just fantastic and they use really fresh ingredients. Every once and awhile they will make a wrap using sliced rib eye for lunch. You have to ask if they have it, but boy is it worth it. And if you are a fan of jerked chicken, then you have hit the mother lode. The staff is really nice and if you are unsure of what you want, they will take the time to explain each dish and help you find just the right item.

This is one of the better Chinese restaurants in the area, and there are lots in this area. You won't find the more exotic Chinese dishes here. You'll get the popular American Chinese cuisines, like General Tso's chicken, Kung Pao chicken, hot and sour soup, etc. The prices are very reasonable. The dinner prices are around $10 to $12, but you get enough to feed 2 to 3 people with those portions. My favorite dish there is the Kung Pao Chicken and Shrimp. Lots of big fat shrimp in the dish and I always have plenty left over for lunch the next day and then some.

My husband and I dined there and I ordered the tofu and he ordered the Kobe beef brisket and both were awesome! Usually Kobe beef is way too expensive but this one comes in a tapas sized portion, which is just enough to satisfy for $14.

This is my favorite restaurant in the Kantlands. I feel like I have stepped into a little french cafe. I love the atmosphere and like the fact that it is quiet enough to hear the conversations at your table. All the food I have eaten in this establishment is fresh and delicious. The desserts are fabulous. This is a 5 star establishment in my book.

This is one of the best places in Washington. I always thought it was too expensive but BOY was I wrong. There prices are very competitive/reasonable. The atmosphere is unbelievable. Where else can you sit by a roaring real fire! Food was great and wine list broad. Service was perfect.

Live2EatInDC wrote about La Sandia Mexican Kitchen and Bar
My family ate at La Sandia at around 7:30 on a Friday night. We chose it because it was the only restaurant in the mall without a waiting list (i.e., Coastal Flats had a one-hour wait). Not only were we seated immediately, but there were many empty tables. This should have been a clear indication of what to expect. The atmosphere was severely lacking (we could very well have been sitting in a fastfood restaurant), but what was most disappointing was the food, which was bland and uninspiring. The guacamole appetizer was the only tasty dish (although not worthy of $9.50 for such a small amount). One dish ordered was the Baha Tacos for $14. The beer-battered tilapia tasted as if it had been frozen and not prepared to order, and it was topped with stringy slaw (which made the taco messy and difficult to eat) and flavorless sauce. The accompanying rice and beans were equally bland. We were forced to incorporate flavor to our dishes by adding salsa. As for service, it was slow (strange considering how few customers were present). The food was definitely not worthy of the prices. Will never again frequent this restaurant.
